Happy 2018. New music coming your way very soon from the band and the small groups.
Last year we started to get more playing time by shrinking the group size from time to time. It gave us more chances to play and for everyone to get some playing time that better fit their schedules. We've found some new venues like Dr. McKays in Bloomington, Duncan Manor in Towanda, and the Farmers Market in Down Town Bloomington to compliment Sunset Lake Vineyard and Winery in Carlock, Make Music Normal Fest, Music at the Round About in Normal, and Danvers Days. We also hope to see you at the Danvers Community building as we continue to have a few shows scheduled for the months ahead.
The new year also brings another musical genre for me as two amazing musicians asked me to join them for some great Old Time (Timey) folk music. I learned quickly from my blue grasser and Old Timey friends that they are far different from each other however, to me, it's two peas from the same tree...er pod. Claudia Kaufman is an amazing fiddle player that just also happens to be an accomplished classical violinist and her husband Gary's claw hammer banjo wizardry compliments her style to a tee. They've played together for many years and have a great following. They were kind enough to invite me and the Martin to join along and sing some new songs and learn a new style of guitar. We're having a blast. I'll post those gigs here on the "Trio" tab.
