A few words about...a few words from Marc Boon: May 2021
Thanks for stopping by and welcome to the site.
"Been a year since we went away....guess that guitar player sho could play...."
Holy crap what the hell happened? 2020 is gone and things are still weird. COVID right? So very much more than that.
A few words about...Chris Briggs on bass, vocals, keyboards by Marc Boon
Chris has been my right arm for 36 years. I cannot imagine playing music without him being in the picture in some way shape or form. That being said it's a sad situation coming up as Chris is headed to "retirement" after this gig. I/We will certainly miss his love of music and considerable talent because he has helped me grow tremendously from day one. He was with me for over 20 years of HP; my last "solo" stint in the early 90's, graciously came along for what was known as Oh Solo Trio, MR C, and now will take his bow with the Day Drinkers (a name he absolutely hates) on Sept 11. He's honest to a fault which is a good thing...he can separate the BS from the genuine article in a heart beat which helped keep me honest too. Perhaps we can get him out for a gig somewhere down the line and back to the studio for sure. "Thank you" seems so inadequate. Love you brother...thanks for checking my back all these years.
This past year has taken a toll or twenty on everyone hasn't it? So many people gone, so much time lost, so many venues and studios done as well. Its hard to put anything into perspective which is odd in itself. All of my music projects shut down in May of 2020 and we are very weary of going back out. Indoor shows are a no go for the near future for certain.
Life is put on hold.
Nov 2020. Vaccines and following strict pod protection protocol we think about music. I meet a new musician, drummer Don Stahl, and along with Chris Briggs my bass player for over 30 years, and Ray Wiggs my keyboard player for the past decade begin to just record some fun stuff at my studio. Don, who is a native of Fairbury Illinois, has been gone for several years or so playing professionally everywhere he has lived. He and his lovely wife Dawn moved back to Central Illinois and through a chance encounter Don and I met and talked music.
Have no grand scheme here or any idea how much time we have together but we're going to make some noise and have some fun on the way regardless. No one knows for sure however there is a plan...and like any good plan there is always room to adapt.
**As of Sept 1 our friend Chris Briggs will not be able to play the show. We are so very fortunate to have been working with Jeff Walker for the last few months on another project and he's willing and able to come along. He has tons of experience and gelled so quickly with the section. You don't replace 36 years, you adapt to the reality of the deal, and he's making it work number 1 because he's very good and number 2 he fit the groove and heart of the project so honestly.
"Marc Boon and the Day Drinkers" (working title) Make Music Normal Fest September 11th 2021 ! Broadway stage at 3:30. More information coming.
Some very talented and special guitar playing friends are stopping to lend a hand to the project and maybe a few other surprises. More to come.
